This stream of consciousness marveling over Big Trouble in Little China was jotted down shortly after completing the movie during the spring semester of my sophomore year at college. My overall rating for the movie is 3 stars out of a possible 4. On my scale, 3 stars qualifies as "good."

Oh! My! GOD! This movie is awesome!! So here’s the scenario: it’s a Friday afternoon, I have just taken a French exam, I have had a very shitty week, and I need something fun to watch while I wait for tonight's pregaming to start. What do I do? I search Netflix for Big Trouble in Little China because I saw five minutes from the middle of it once, remember loving it, and I'm pretty sure that it is one of my Dad’s all-time favorites. Now that I've finished it, here are my observations...
This movie is a terrific spoof of martial arts movies and a terrific martial arts movie in its own right. This movie is so ridiculous and has many plot holes, but if anybody tries to tell me that doesn’t make this movie better, then I will yell at them in Cantonese-inspired gibberish, wave my arms around like I have a magic rod or knives, and focus all my energy towards conjuring up the powers from Lightning, the best of the three Weather Warriors. Kim Cattrall: I don’t know anything about her apart from her being a bit of a scream queen, but she is either a really bad actress or purposely acting poorly for Gracie. And it doesn’t even matter to me which is the case: she makes the movie better regardless. I do have some questions (plot holes notwithstanding) like the gaps in the back of semi-truck cabs aren’t big enough to fit the weird, hairy monster, so did it shrink? How did Jack know that Eddie liked Margo? So Egg Shen is telling all of this through narration to a lawyer? If he is, why does it not end with him and the lawyer? Does this mean Egg Shen never went on vacation and the stupid witnesses and lawyer are preventing him? How old is Egg Shen really? But I really don’t care to find out or if I ever find out the answers. This movie is one of the best times I have ever had watching anything that was released on the Silver Screen, and that is just what I needed today.
