Greatest Films of All Time

Every year, I compile a trilogy of lists celebrating the greatest films of all-time. The first is the standard 100 greatest films. The others are supplemental lists dividing films from two groups: 100 greatest films from English-language speaking countries and 100 greatest films from foreign language-speaking countries. These supplementary lists are included to provide a glimpse at films that just missed the standard 100, as well as providing extra filmwatching material.

100 Greatest Films of All-Time: 2026 Trilogy of Lists

Casablanca (1942), The Battle of Algiers (1966), Pather Panchali (1955), and La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc (1928) sit atop this year's list, holding the same positions they did last year This year's Top 100* is a tad less diverse than last year's. While there are still only 34 films from English language-speaking countries, we are down to 27 countries featured in the Top 100 (last year, there was a record high of 28).
